On-site state park RV campgrounds make staying the night, or many, at Monroe Lake State Park a breeze. There are over 300 sites, in total, that are spread between the various campgrounds and loops, and guests can reserve the majority of these campsites ahead of time if needed. Of these campsites, over 225 of them offer electric hookups, varying between 30 and 50 amps, and sometimes both. An additional 94 sites can accommodate RVs but don’t have electricity hookups.

All campsites at Monroe Lake State Park have access to centrally located water hookups, dumping stations, and a camp store. Additionally, each campsite has its own fire ring, grill, and picnic table for added convenience. Depending on what you plan to do while you rent a camper near Monroe Lake State Park, choose a campground that best suits your trip itinerary. But no matter where you end up staying, the lake will provide easy access for seemingly endless family fun.

Exploring the Area

In the nearby area, you’ll find other great outdoor destinations like Yellowwood State Forest and Brown County State Park, both of which offer extensive opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Both of these destinations are within driving distance of Monroe Lake State Park and are good places to visit after you’ve exhausted the trail options surrounding the lake. Be sure to head to the ranger and interpretive stations at the aforementioned parks for insider information on trails and must-see destinations.

The city of Bloomington is just north of Monroe Lake State Park and is one of the most convenient large cities to visit in the area. Bloomington is home to more than a handful of museums, including the WonderLab Science Museum, the Grunwald Gallery of Art, the Wylie House Museum, the Eskenazi Museum of Art, the Monroe County History Center, the Farmer House Museum, and many more. It would be easy to spend many days exploring museums in Bloomington, so be sure to include enough time in your itinerary for as much learning as you prefer.

Given that Bloomington is home to Indiana University, it should be no surprise that there are dozens of diverse restaurants to enjoy in town. The majority of the restaurants can be found around downtown Bloomington, near the university campus. These include small delis, cafes, sandwich shops, pubs, buffets, burger joints, and more. Visitors with restrictive diets will also find plenty of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free food options throughout town.
