The main attraction at Green River Lake State Park is undoubtedly Green River Lake. The 8,210-acre reservoir was created in 1969 to prevent the floods in the area. The lake became a favorite recreational spot for the locals soon after. The gorgeous green color of this lake attracts anglers from all around the United States. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources maintains the lake’s fish population, and many species live here. Some of them are largemouth bass, sunfish, bluegill, crappie, and pike. Muskie fishing is also very popular at Green River Lake, and trophy-sized fish can be caught often.

Camping at Green River Lake State Park

Green River Lake State Park has its campground that is within the park’s limits. The campground is large and well-equipped with all the necessary features one could need during a camping trip. A building that is located at the center of the campground has clean showers and bathrooms. Additionally, campers may shop at a grocery store that offers fruits, vegetables, snacks, and beverages. The playground and picnic area are nearby.

Lexington is a lovely community that is relatively close to Green River Lake State Park. Even though it is not a huge tourist destination, there are plenty of sites to see and visit in this city.
