Cypress Bayou Reservoir is located in the state of Louisiana, just east of the town of Benton. The reservoir is in a beautiful area of lakes, woodlands, and national forests, and is just a short drive north of the city of Shreveport. The city of Texarkana is directly north of the lake, on the Texas and Arkansas state line. The reservoir was formed in 1972 by damming the Cypress Bayou, Little Caney Bayou, and White Oak Bayou. The smaller Black Bayou Reservoir was created in 1974 to supplement the water supply.

Getting Outdoors

Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Park is perfect for getting out and exploring the reservoir, and there is plenty of parking for your RV rental. With two public boat ramps and a boat mooring pier, it’s easy to get on the water, just remember to obtain a boat permit and pay the launch fee before you do. Two other boat ramps are available, one at the dam and one-off of Highway 162. The lake is several miles long with many creeks and inlets, so there is plenty to explore by boat, plus power boats are permitted. Speed limits are in force on Cypress Bayou Reservoir, and all boating traffic must travel in a counter-clockwise direction due to the narrow stretches of the lake.

Camping at Cypress Bayou Reservoir

RV camping at Cypress Bayou Reservoir is available and offers over 70 campsites. A mixture of pull-thru and back-in sites, all with electrical and water hookups along with around a third of the sites offering full hookups is available for you to pick from. Some of the sites are right on the water’s edge, giving a lovely view from your rental RV, while others are in the shade of the trees. There are two restrooms with showers in the campground but no other facilities.

We had a great experience with this RV. Its one of the best RVs we have rented to date. Everything worked exactly how it should have and the RV was stocked with everything you need. Jess and her husband were extremely helpful with everything and answered any questions we had quickly. The communication was great, and we would definitely rent with them again!
