Getting Outdoors

Paddling is one of the best ways you can enjoy White Oak Lake, with canoes, kayaks and pedal boats available to rent from the visitors' center. The lake is also well-stocked with crappie, bream, catfish, and bass, making the park a top destination for anglers. Cast a line from the shore, launch a boat at the ramp, or rent from the marina. The store also rents rods, bait, and fishing supplies.

Hiking and mountain bike trails wind through the park and showcase the sun-dappled pine forests, tree-lined ridges, and lush wetlands. The short Beech Ridge Trail takes around an hour and a half to hike and takes you through a variety of forest ecosystems. The Fern Hollow Trail is a favorite with mountain bikers and features challenging uphill and downhill terrain. If you don't have your own bike, you can rent a set of wheels from the visitors' center.

The visitors' center also features exhibits on the unique flora and fauna of the park, as well as local history like the Battle of Poison Spring. Interactive programs are run throughout the year and are a great way to enrich your White Oak Lake State Park camping adventure. Mountain biking days, Dutch oven cooking workshops, guided bird walks, and Halloween celebrations are just some of the events on offer.

The White Oak Lake State Park campground enjoys a picturesque setting by the water. It features 45 campsites set under a canopy of pine, beech, and hickory trees. Most are spacious and offer plenty of shade and privacy from your neighbors. Secure one of the four Class A sites and you'll enjoy 50-amp electric hookups and water lines. The remaining 37 sites are Class B and offer 30-amp electric hookups and water. If you need extra space, there are also four tent sites available.

Like most well-equipped state park RV campgrounds, White Oak Lake features modern bathroom facilities with showers and toilets. There's also a dump station near the bathhouse. If you need to stock up on motorhome camping essentials, the visitors' center sells firewood, ice, and other basics. When RV camping at White Oak Lake State Park, you'll enjoy easy access to nature trails, as well as the marina and boat launch.

Exploring the Area

Camping in an RV at White Oak Lake State Park puts you in the heart of Southwest Arkansas. This captivating corner of the Natural State is known for shimmering lakes, scenic byways, and friendly towns. A one-hour drive south, El Dorado recalls the oil boom of the 1920s. You'll love strolling around the historic downtown core filled with National Register buildings. Today, many house cozy cafes and mom-and-pop stores. Poison Spring Battleground State Park is a ten-minute drive from the campground and recalls a notorious Civil War clash between the Union and Confederate Armies. Check out the outdoor exhibits, hike the nature trail, and enjoy a picnic at one of the scenic pavilions.

For gas, snacks, and other RV camping supplies, head five minutes up the road to Bluff City. Nearby cities like Prescott or Camden offer more choice. Little Rock is a two-hour drive north and offers a great selection of RV rentals near White Oak Lake State Park. The state capital is also home to Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, making it a great place to kick off an Arkansas road trip. Memphis is a three-and-a-half-hour drive away and is another popular city to pick up campers near White Oak Lake State Park.
