Han (as in Han Solo) is our 2021 Jeep Gladiator Willy's (Ecodisel) edition. We have set him up for outdoor adventures with a Mopar lift kit, custom wheels and tires, and custom roof rack that supports a Roofnest Falcon "clamshell style" two person rooftop tent. Going with the hardshell style allowed us to add a storage rack on top of the tent. In addition there is lockable oversize toolboxes on the rack so you can bring your favorite outdoor gear and keep it secure. If living your best outdoor life includes kayaks, skis, snowshoes, bikes, climbing, hiking, trail running, paddle boarding or more, this rig will accomodate your hitch or roof mount racks for it. And if you're like us, you'd rather be enjoying those adventures rather than spending hours setting up camp. This is one of the easiest and fastest tents you will ever deploy, so you can spend more time on the trail and less time worrying about your shelter. What's includedThe Jeep Gladiator Willy's edition includes the inverter option, so you can operate small to medium electronics using the outlet near the tailgate. The tent includes LED lighting that operates on rechargeable battery. Other vehicle options include Sirius Satellite Radio, large LED display, premium audio, removable hardtop, Weather Tec floormats, heated seats, heated steering wheel, spray-in bedliner, and back up camera. The yellow rack mounted diesel fuel cell and spare water can shown in images are both included. We can include camping chairs upon request.RecommendationsIn winter, we love to snowshoe near Walden and Rabbit Ears Pass. The longer toolbox is perfect for storing two pairs of snowshoes and poles, making it easily accessible. In summer, we hike trails in and around Rocky Mountain National Park or hit the lake to paddleboard- Glendo Reservoir in Wyoming has the most amazing view of the night sky. Vedauwoo near Laramie Wyoming also boasts a great night sky and dispersed camping. Activities there include mountain biking, climbing, trail running, and hiking.Other things to noteYou'll notice that four-wheeling is one hobby we didn't promote here. We do enjoy that hobby and Han is more than capable of tackling most of the local trails. But this hobby requires both a special driving skill AND extraordinary familiarity with the vehicle in order to avoid damage (and even then, some damage is inevitable). For rental purposes, we've decided to limit Han's use strictly to pavement and well-maintained (i.e. county) dirt roads. Jeep trails and forest service roads marked for high clearance or 4x4 vehicles are strictly off limits. Furry friends are also not allowed in the vehicle's interior or in the tent. We love our dogs too, but the rooftop tent is ladder access only with just enough room for two modest-sized adults, and we would rather not spend our weekends trying to get pet hair out of the black cloth interior of the truck. If you just can't bear the thought of leaving those fur babies behind, please check out our other listing for the full "all the luxuries of home" camping experience. :)

Frequently asked questions

Q.

Does the tent accomodate taller people?

A.

We're not tall people, so we can't attest to foot room for those over 6ft. But we would guess that taller individuals will find limited foot room if sleeping on their back. Side sleepers shouldn't have a problem. There is a lot of head room when sitting up compared to other rooftop tents, but no rooftop tents that we've seen are designed for standing.

Q.

I have a storage rack that I would like to use specific to my outdoor gear. Any problem mounting that to Han?

A.

Any rack that will fit on a standard receiver hitch is fine. In addition, roof mounted racks are allowed, provided they can mount to the Roofnest tent's crossbars. Bikes can be hauled in the truck bed, but the truck body must be protected if mounting with a wheel over the tailgate (we do not supply these protective drapes).

Q.

I've seen Gladiators with the doors off. Are we allowed to remove these?

A.

Sadly, we must insist that the doors stay on, both for safety reasons and for keeping the interior clean and dry (the new wider tires do stick out enough to throw mud/dirt/sand right up the sides of the doors).
