Discover Lamoine State Park


This park sits in the southern coastal portion of the state, not far from Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. It is situated on the coast of Maine, on the shores of the narrow portion of Frenchman's Bay and the other waterways that separate several of the islands from the mainland. The town nearest to the park is Lamoine, though it is fairly small. The nearest large town is Ellsworth, found less than 10 miles to the northwest. The nearest large city is Bangor, which is around 40 miles to the northwest.

There are plenty of fun things to do here including, water sports, beach activities, camping, hiking, and picnicking. The majority of the park is comprised of the beach and waterfront area, though parts of its inland sections are more forested. Due to its location, this park offers fine views of the Bar Harbor region of Mount Desert Island, as well as Cadillac Mountain. But, this site is less crowded than those other places.

Getting Outdoors

Renting an RV at Lamoine State Park will give you the chance to enjoy a wide variety of activities. The beach this site provides offers plenty of them on its own. The campground offers some sites with hookups, that can accommodate a variety of sizes of RV's. Reservations are encouraged, as this is a very popular area, though some first-come-first-serve sites may be available as well. Pets are also welcome so bring along Barrett.

All of the established sites offer fire rings and picnic tables. Bathrooms, complete with hot showers, are available as well. A stay at the park makes for a perfect base camp to experience all the activities found nearby, including scenic drives, lighthouse tours, and outdoor adventures. As it provides easy access to a range of fun locations, many people enjoy RV camping at Lamoine State Park, so it shouldn't be hard to locate any amenities you may need.

Exploring the Area

When you rent a camper in Hancock County, you will find interesting activities that everyone can enjoy nearby. Diver Eds Dive-In Theater is found about 20 miles away, across the narrow bay, in Bar Harbor. This attraction is a boat tour of the nearby bay that is geared for children. Wild Acadia Fun Park and Water Slides are located in Trenton, a short drive of only seven miles from the park. This attraction features numerous activities, including a ropes course, go-carts, mini-golf and of course, water slides. Rock climbing, trampoline jumps and places to enjoy a picnic lunch are available as well.

Numerous sightseeing tours are found throughout the nearby area. They range in-vehicle type from car and boat to trolley and even plane. For people who want to engage in a more hands-on tour, look into those that involve bikes and sea kayaks. These give visitors the chance to get up close to some of the hidden gems and wildlife found around the nearby area.
