RV rental North Higgins Lake State Park, MI: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

The campground at North Higgins Lake State Park is split into two areas, east camp and west camp, with a total of around 174 campsites. All campsites have electrical power, and around half of those offer a 50 amp connection. There are modern washrooms with hot showers and toilets and a designated sanitation area to empty your rental RV waste tanks. Only limited facilities are available at the campground, such as two playgrounds for the children and a park office for information. However, the campground is right on the shoreline, perfect for those that enjoy water sports or fishing.

A few miles to the east is the town of Roscommon, which is large enough to provide all the facilities you need while RV camping at state parks. Here, you’ll find gas stations, a range of restaurants, including fast food, a steakhouse, pizzerias and more, plus stores that provide most things you’ll need. At the park is the Michigan Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Museum, detailing the work carried out by the corps during the 1930s. The site was originally a state nursery, established in 1903, producing millions of pine seedlings to replant northern Michigan. The CCC housed hundreds of young men here during the depression, and they worked on conservation projects across the state. The museum contains some personal mementos from former CCC members and the history of the nursery and the CCC. The bluegill Festival is Roscommon county's longest-running festival, having started in 1949 and takes place each year in the middle of June. The festival is held at Saint Helen, just a few miles southeast of the park, and would make a great family day out when RV camping at North Higgins Lake State Park. From parades, carnival rides, car, and motorcycle shows, and plenty of games, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Plus of course, live bands and entertainment to keep the adults occupied in the evenings. Head south a few miles, and you come to Houghton, where you’ll find a historical village to explore. With 11 restored buildings dating back to the 1800s, including a schoolroom, general store, barbershop, and others, it’s an interesting place to wander around. They also hold regular Village Days, with guides in period costumes, events, and demonstrations.
