Fifteen miles south of Carson City is the town of Minden. Minden was named by Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg Jr, an immigrant who chose to name the new area after his hometown in Germany. In fact, most of the town’s first settlers were German immigrants who moved west to find a new place to build a life. Minden was originally a pioneer town that revolved around ranching, but when the V&T Railroad decided to extend its railway to Minden, the area was opened up to the outside world with tourism evolving into the main industry.

When Dangberg founded the Minden community, he envisioned a peaceful town centered around a town square where events could take place and the general public could convene. To this day, Minden Park sits at the heart of Minden and serves this function. This beautiful two-acre park has a magnificent gazebo that can be used for both public and private events, like the many concerts, town celebrations, and festivals that take place throughout the year. Zephyr Cove Park has an extensive system of trails perfect for jogging or walking a dog, along with several volleyball and tennis courts and an 18-hole disc golf course. Topaz Lake Recreation Area is able to accommodate your Minden RV rental with its lush campground along the water’s edge. People who stay at Topaz Lake Recreation Area overnight enjoy fishing in the pristine waters or touring the waters with a boat ride.

Dean was truly fantastic. This trip was for our engagement celebration, and he really made it special. He was such a great host, picking us up from our hotel, walking us through the van, answering all our questions, and then dropping us back off at the airport at the end of the trip. The van was spotless and fully stocked, and we had soooo much fun on our big California adventure. Whether you are renting, or considering building out a van, I cannot recommend Dean enough.
