Discover Walker Lake RV rentals for memorable road trips

Walker Lake is located in southwestern Nevada, just south of Carson City, Reno, and Fallon. This natural lake occurred during the last ice age and has long been a feature of the Nevadan state. Known to the native Paiute people of the Great Basin area of the US, Walker Lake has long provided an oasis in the wide-open expanses of Nevada. The lake was named after Joseph R. Walker, a mountain man who scouted the area in the late 19th century. During the modern era, Walker Lake has gained a reputation for its excellent recreational opportunities. This reputation, combined with its closeness to many Nevada cities, makes Walker Lake the ideal place to take an RV rental. Access to the lake with a rental RV is made even easier with Highway 95 passing its western shores. Many campgrounds can also be found throughout the county, making camping with an RV here easy.

Getting Outdoors

The keen anglers among campers will be delighted to hear that Walker Lake is somewhat of a haven for fishermen and women. The lake is home to a wide range of fish species, each with their own unique sporting characteristics. The lake is best known for its Lahontan cutthroat trout, whos numbers only swell with endless re-stocking and conservation carried out by local groups. Alongside these, there are also high numbers of rainbow trout, yellow perch, carp, and channel catfish. Whether Walker Lake campers choose to fish from the miles of shoreline or a boat out on the water, with such fertile waters, they are rarely unsuccessful here.

Camping at Walker Lake

When RV camping at Walker Lake, campers will have a number of choices when it comes to choosing a campsite. ‘Whiskey Flats RV Park’ just south of Walker Lake is an ideal campground for RV campers. Full hookups are provided here, including 20, 30, 50 amp electrical, water, and sewage hookups. Facilities include a dump station, flushing toilets, showers, RV storage units, and a laundrette. Pets are welcome on-site but must be kept on a leash at all times.

Exploring the Area

The nearby town of Hawthorne is only a couple of miles from Walker Lake and is home to a handful of interesting and intriguing sites, the ‘Hawthorne Ordnance Museum’ is one such place. The museum sits on the site of an early 20th-century ammunition depot, which was destroyed in 1926. The museum now opens its doors to celebrate and commemorate the US military and its personnel. Alongside this, there are also many examples of military hardware and ordnance for visitors to view. Sit astride a real tank, or view the many examples of bombs, missiles, and ammunition once stored at the army depot.

This was our second year renting this trailer, and once again, it was an amazing experience! Helio and Tracy had a clear line of communication with me from the start, which made everything so easy. When we arrived, the trailer was already set up and ready to go—such a stress-free way to start our trip!
The trailer itself is spotless, organized, and modern, with thoughtful little personal touches that really make it feel special. They even left us a tasty gift, which was such a kind surprise!

This trailer is simply perfect. Everything inside looked brand new and well taken care of. The delivery and set up was spot on and the trailer has everything you need including a Keurig for your morning coffee. Super clean and roomy! The master bedroom has plenty of room to move around and the dining room table converts to a full size bed which was plenty of room for my son. The outside flat grill was perfect for preparing breakfast and dinner.

Communication was seamless! We were impressed by the attention to detail! the extra thoughtful touches were noticed not only by us but many other campers. Helio and Tracy are super hosts in my book they ensured our stay was comfortable from start to finish. The trailer is well stocked from kitchen essentials, towels, bed linens, outdoor chairs, picnic table/ bench covers, outdoor mates. The trailer has some really cool amenities like indoor/outdoor bluetooth speaker system, outdoor gas griddle, small beverage fridge, and a led light strip which is the width of the awning which changes colors. We were outside most of the time so we took advantage of these amenities. We are certainly booking them next year and in the years to come.
