Lake Champlain is a very large lake that sits on the border between the states of New York and Vermont. A small portion of its northern end crosses the international border into Canada as well. This large body of water is over 100 miles in length, and a small portion is near Plattsburgh, New York. This small town is located on the lake's eastern shore, in the northeast corner of the state. The nearest larger city is the state's capital, Albany, which is almost 200 miles to the south. From Plattsburgh, the Canadian Border is only around 30 miles to the north.

There is so much to do near the lake. Water sports can be enjoyed, of course, in addition to hiking, camping picnicking, fishing and scenic drives. This part of the country is known for its extremely vivid fall colors.
