Little Pond Campground is a rustic camping destination set in the Catskill Forest Preserve near the village of Margaretville. It's the perfect choice for camping with an RV. It has a picnic area and a beach, both located on the shoreline of Little Pond, and there is a hiking trail that winds its way around the pond in a loop. The trail is relatively easy and is ADA accessible; from the trail, you can connect to other trails that extend into the Catskill Forest Preserve. Some of these trails will take you to the ruins of an old farm; other paths lead to higher elevations in the Touchmenot Mountain, where you'll have a panoramic view of the surrounding area.
The campground and surrounding area are surrounded by lush forests, providing peace and quiet for its guests. While camping near Little Pond, you can enjoy nature and wildlife observation. You will have opportunities to observe the white-tailed deer and turkeys that call the park home. There are also coyotes, foxes, and bears in the area. Your rental motorhome at Little Pond Campground can also serve as a wildlife observation blind, customized with all the creature comforts of home.
There are numerous activities you can enjoy while RV camping at Little Pond Campground; you can rent canoes, kayaks, and rowboats for use on Little Pond. Fishing is allowed on the nearby Pepacton Reservoir. If you're really up for a challenge, try fly fishing at the Beaverkill, a well-known fly fishing stream. You can go swimming at the campground beach or enjoy a picnic; if you're into photography and want to expand on your nature observation by recording what you see, you'll find lots to work with here.
When you're ready to expand your adventure even further, the Middle Mountain and Delaware wild forests are both just a short drive down the road, offering their own unique attractions. There is an abundance of natural attractions nearby you can choose from; one of the most popular of these is Slide Mountain Wilderness, which is open year-round, offering the chance to enjoy outdoor activities in a variety of seasons. Slide Mountain's hiking trails are perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and having a Margaretville camper rental nearby means you can end the day's activities by stepping into a warm and cozy RV without having to take an extra step.
Hunting and trapping are allowed within the Catskill Forest Preserve, as is primitive backcountry camping. Slide Mountain Wilderness has more than two dozen primitive campsites at your disposal; you can get a map to determine where these are located from the park administration offices before you head out. When you head to Little Pond Campground with a motorhome rental, you can take a self-guided tour of the area at your leisure.
Little Pond Campground is one of many places you can camp while renting an RV in the area. The campground has a picnic area with grills and tables; it also has restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers, recycling and dump stations, and much more. There are facilities on site for playing basketball, volleyball, and soccer, a horseshoe pitch, and a playground for younger children.
Another potential choice is Willowemoc Campgrounds Inc, a family-friendly campground named after the creek that flows nearby. The park has a restroom with flush toilets and hot showers, laundry facilities, and a camp store that can provide supplies like propane, firewood, and ice. Sites can be rented by the day from early May until around October, and have water and electric hookups.
Delhi is a small town with a public 18-hole golf course and a landmark covered bridge. The golf course has spectacular views that look out over rolling greens, providing both a challenge and eye candy for those who accept the challenge. The covered bridge is open to car traffic, but to get the best view, try walking through the bridge on foot. A local farm has numerous buildings and a barn and is open for hosting weddings and other events. Delhi has a reasonably-sized restaurant industry for such a small community. Most of the venues serve familiar American style food, but there are a couple of restaurants that offer Chinese food and one that offers Lebanese food, in case you're in the mood for something different.
Hancock is a village in Delaware County, New York, with a nature preserve and science center. Guests can walk around the property, which is largely wetland, on a dedicated walkway, and try to identify the plants and animals on display. There is a blend of hardwood and softwood tree stands, evergreens, and flowers, and other plant life that adds color and variety to the scenery.
