Discover Lancaster

For anyone who would like to get away from crowded Columbus, capital of Ohio, Lancaster is a great place to go to. Situated in Fairfield County and approximately 33 miles from Columbus, this great RV rental city boasts breathtaking views and picturesque scenery wherever you turn, and is also known for its Civil War history and proximity to the Hocking Hills. You’ll find plenty to see and do with an RV rental in Lancaster, Ohio.

The Great Outdoors

As many places in Ohio, Lancaster holds great historical stories for visitors to enjoy. Firstly, there are two great parks in the vicinity of Lancaster: Stonewall Cemetery and Rising Park. If you are planning to take your rental motorhome around Lancaster, make sure to visit these locations first.

Stonewall Cemetery is a great ‘’time capsule’’ park fenced by local sandstone, a material similar to the one used for erecting the city hall and the courthouse. The Cemetery, which holds the headstones of a prominent Lancaster family, the Wilsons, dates all the way to 1817 and is considered to be a fantastic example of dry-stone masonry in the area, as the stones fit tightly without the help of any mortar. There is also a story about the cemetery – Nathaniel Wilson, the man who started the erection of the stone wall, deeded the area to President Monroe so as to preserve it from vandalism. However, there are no official records of President Monroe ever accepting the deed. Adequate parking exists in the vicinity of Stonewall Cemetery, and it acts as a good place for a picnic.

Rising Park, on the other hand, is tucked into a corner of Lancaster in the eastern part of the city. The park overlooks the city for miles in most directions, as the view is a photographer's paradise. The park itself is composed of a small lake and outdoor amenities for everyone. There are many things you can do there: fish, play tennis, or just enjoy the fresh outdoors. The hike to the top of the hill is very steep and exhausting, but well worth the reward of a scenic beauty that cannot be seen from anywhere else. Like many areas in Ohio, this area also has a strong Native American background, and it was known as "Standing Stone".

And if you like a good feeling of adrenaline and are adventurous in spirit, Lancaster has a lot to offer. If you would like to slide down a zip line and enjoy the wind on your face while flying through the forest Lancaster is the place to be. Maybe you’d rather put a jetpack on your back and get wet -- many people have never experienced levitating in thin air with a little help from water pressure. If you’d like to try out this amazing attraction, you can find a spot near the Lakeview RV park!

RV Parks

There are great places where you can park a rental RV in Lancaster, whether you’re passing through or sticking around to enjoy the calmness of the town and the surrounding forests. Both both Lancaster and the outskirts are home to several designated RV parks. One of the best is the Hocking Hills KOA. It is very spacious, clean and quiet. It is also pet-friendly, so you can bring your favorite furry companion with you! The park provides spectacular scenery as well, and it is designed for anyone who would like to get away from the rushing city with their own rental RV in Lancaster or Columbus. Both local stores and a Walmart supercenter are in the vicinity so you can stock up easily, and you can also find a lot of gas stations scattered around town.

Another great RV spot is the Lakeview Park. Here, you can fish, swim or take a paddle boat ride. At the end of the day, you can sit on your patio and enjoy the setting sun reflecting over the shimmering water.

Also, nearby towns of Zanesville, Circleville, and Buckeye Lake also offer great places to park your camper rental from Lancaster, as well as plenty of activities for recreation. These towns are not far from Lancaster, an hour’s drive at most. You will enjoy the scenery on the trip and at your destination; it’s a breath of fresh air and a whole different atmosphere.
