As AW Marion State Park lies along the shores of Hargus Lake, it is no surprise that many of the park’s visitors come here for the fantastic fishing. Fishermen and women from the Columbus and metropolitan area seek out some of the best angling experiences at Hargus Lake. The lake is famously home to a wide variety of freshwater gamefish, making it a popular lake. AW Marion State Park campers can catch fish species such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, sunfish, and northern pike. Anglers can fish from the shoreline or take a boat out onto the crystal clear lake.
Camping at AW Marion State Park
Those RV camping at AW Marion State Park will find two campgrounds directly alongside the lake and park. The first AW Marion State Park Campground offers campers partial hookups. These include 20 and 30 amp electrical hookups, but no others. Facilities in this campground include a dump station, flushing toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Pets are welcomed on site but must be kept on a leash at all times.
Exploring the Area
With the Ohio capital Columbus only a forty-minute drive from AW Marion State Park, there is plenty to keep campers entertained. Lovers of art and culture may wish to visit the Columbus Museum of Art. This museum is home to a plethora of art, a collection that spans across many eras and genres. Highlights of this museum have to be the Ferdinand Howald Collection, the Sirak Collection, and the Philip and Suzanne Schiller Collection.
