Situated on the route of the historic Chisholm Trail about 80 miles southwest of Oklahoma City, Duncan now serves as the seat of Stephens County in southern Oklahoma. The town was officially established in 1892 with the arrival of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad and flourished with the opening of oil wells in 1918.
