Getting Outdoors

Spending time camping with an RV is a great way to see the country in style. While camping at Lake Arrowhead State Park, you can enjoy many different activities such as hiking, boating, water skiing, horseback riding, and disc golf. Equestrians can bring their horses and enjoy riding through the five miles of trails that meander through about 300 acres. These are multi-use trails, so be courteous to others using the trails. Visitors must bring their own horses and provide proper care while inside the park. Campsites for visitors with horses are available.

When packing your rental RV, be sure to bring along your fishing gear. When visiting in June, visitors can participate in the annual Adult Rough Fish Contest; children even have their own Kids' Fishing Contest. Anglers can expect to reel in largemouth bass, carp, catfish, and crappie. A fishing license is not required for those fishing along the shoreline within the park boundaries. When fishing from a boat, a fishing license is required. Lake Arrowhead State Park has a tackle loaner program where visitors are allowed to borrow rods, reels, and tackle from the park office.

While visiting the refuge, you'll be able to see Texas longhorn cattle grazing on the grasslands as well as white-tailed deer.
