Founded during the opening of the Cherokee Outlet in the Land Run of 1893, Enid is a lively city that serves as the seat of Garfield County. It’s been nicknamed the “Wheat Capital” of Oklahoma thanks to its immense grain storage capacity, although its official name is after a character in Alfred Lord Tennyson's Idylls of the King. Enid flourished following the discovery of oil in the region around 1910, with many of its downtown buildings dating from the period.
