Grass Valley, Oregon is a quaint and charming town. This tiny community lies in the eastern foothills of the mighty Cascade Mountains that divide central Oregon from the rainier coastal region. Grass Valley was first settled in the late 19th century by members of the famous Lewis & Clark Expedition that sought to map out the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase. The little frontier town was named Grass Valley for the abundance of tall grass that existed in the hot, dry Mediterranean climate with little rainfall and lots of sun. Since its incorporation in 1901, Grass Valley has hardly changed, remaining a quiet town on the prairie frozen in time.
