Located near Goldendale in southern Washington, this 81-acre park is small in size but offers easy access to a wide range of activities and attractions.

Fishing, boating, windsurfing, and relaxing are all on offer within the park itself, while a world-famous art museum and scores of wonderful wineries are all just a short drive away. Best of all, Maryhill State Park also has a scenic campground where you can set up camp in an RV for a few nights or more, so it's well worth visiting for anyone exploring the spectacular Columbia River.

Discover Maryhill State Park

Getting Outdoors

The Columbia River is right at the heart of everything that goes on in Maryhill State Park. With more than 4,500 feet of waterfront on offer in the park, campers love nothing more than getting out on the water.

There are two watercraft launches to choose from, as well as more than 200 feet of dock available. Windsurfing is a particularly popular pastime, with keen windsurfers making the most of conditions in the area, which can sometimes get quite breezy.

If windsurfing sounds a little too extreme or complicated for you, maybe you'd be better off trying your luck at some fishing. Maryhill State Park has a well-earned reputation as an excellent freshwater fishing destination, and if you're hoping to catch a big walleye or three, you won't find anywhere better in Washington to do so.

Other water sports on offer for Mary Hill State Park campers include water skiing, paddling, and swimming, so Maryhill is a lovely place to be during the warmer months. It also offers a lovely grassy expanse where you can just sit back and relax while you watch the river flow by.

However, despite the beauty and many recreational activities the river has to offer, perhaps the best-known local attraction is the Maryhill Museum of Art. Located just a few miles west of the park, the museum is home to one of the best private art collections to be found anywhere on the West Coast. It also boasts a remarkable setting, with lovely views of the river and the surrounding wine country, and is just a short drive from the Maryhill State Park campground.

Sam Hill, the entrepreneur behind the museum, also built a full-scale Stonehenge replica nearby to honor the soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. It's quite a remarkable sight and one that's well worth checking out during your visit.

Camping at Maryhill State Park

If you want to camp with an RV at Maryhill State Park, search for a rental RV in Klickitat County and reserve a site in the park's scenic campground.

The campground boasts 50 full-hookup campsites and 20 standard sites. Sites are well-spaced and many enjoy wonderful views of the Columbia River. However, the downside is that you may notice some nearby railway and highway traffic noise during your stay.

The maximum site length in the park is 60 feet, so you'll need to make sure you reserve a suitable site if you're traveling in a big rig. There are four restrooms (one of which is ADA accessible) and ten showers (two of which are ADA accessible), all of which are generally clean and well-maintained. A dump station is also provided, and ice sales are available from the park office.

Exploring the Area

While there's plenty to see and do in Maryhill State Park, you'll also find a whole lot of other great attractions nearby.

For example, if you want to continue exploring the beautiful shoreline of the Columbia River, you might want to make the 20-mile drive west to Columbia Hills State Park.

If you decide to steer your rental RV north towards Yakima, you'll soon find yourself among hundreds of vineyards in Washington wine country. Gilbert Cellars in the Historic Front Street District is one of many tasting rooms in the area well worth visiting.

Of course, if you'd rather head for the big city, Portland is just one hour and 40 minutes to the west. While you're exploring the city, be sure to take a wander through the peaceful and scenic surroundings of Portland Japanese Garden.

From beautiful river scenery to renowned cultural attractions, there's so much to experience and enjoy when you rent a camper near Maryhill State Park. Why not book an RV and start planning your next camping vacation today?
