Upper Klamath Lake lies in south-central Oregon, with the California state line being only 30 miles to the south. This area is quite rural. There is a very small town by the name of Algoma, which sits on the eastern shore of the lake. The nearest larger town is Klamath Falls, OR, located less than 20 miles to the south, while the larger city of Eugene, OR is over 150 miles to the northwest.

Upper Klamath Lake is one of the largest lakes in the state. It is nestled in among the national forestland of the Cascade Mountain Range. This provides for numerous recreational activities including camping, hiking, fishing, water and winter sports.
