Rhode Island is popular for its immaculate sandy beaches and charming oceanfront towns. It’s no surprise that Rhode Island is nicknamed the Ocean State. One iconic town you should visit on your motorhome camping trip to Rhode Island is Charlestown. At Charlestown, it is all about a nice time at the beach. The entire town is made up of beaches. East Beach State Beach takes up approximately three miles of a pristine stretch of sand sandwiched between Ninigret Pond and the majestic Atlantic Ocean. The beach is bordered by the Charlestown Town Beach and the Blue Shutters Town Beach. Want to spice up your vacation with some shopping and dining? There are numerous towns in the area, such as Westerly and Middletown. Providence, the state capital, isn’t too far off either.

East Beach State Park is approximately 174 acres in size. Don’t let the small size fool you, you’ll be spoilt for choice over the long list of activities on offer. Burlingame State Park is home to some of the best trails you’ll find in the region. The eight-mile-long moderately rated Vin Gormley Trail is a great way to spend a couple of hours. If a short and easy trail is what you’re after, the 2.4-mile long Ninigret Conservation Area Trail in East Beach is the way to go.

After renting an RV, start by familiarizing yourself with the rules and regulations of the campground at East Beach State Beach. The RV Park has a total of 20 sites that are usually available from May to September. There are no hookups, making it a perfect spot for some dry camping. Some of the amenities include restrooms and a trash disposal point. For recreation, Charlestown campers can enjoy some swimming or fishing.

The Fishermen's State Park and Campground in Narragansett is a good alternative if you’re looking for full hookups to compliment your luxury RV rental. Apart from full hookups, the pull-thru sites are also big rig accessible, so don’t worry about the size of your motorhome. For amenities, restrooms and showers are available. There is also a playground for kids.

Exploring the Area

Head over to Newport for one of the most relaxing walks you’ll ever experience. The three and a half-mile long Cliff Walk runs along the eastern shore of the city, offering stunning views of the city on one side and the shoreline on the other. Follow it up with a stroll down to Thames Street, where all the action happens. This is the place to be for shopping, dining, and even drinking.
