Named after the Mediterranean island of Corsica, Corsicana, Texas was officially founded back in 1848 and has evolved into a thriving modern city. It’s home to historic buildings, vibrant cafes, and artistic institutions, as well as numerous museums and landmarks that celebrate its rich history and legendary characters, and is less than an hour's drive south of the massive Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Oil was accidentally discovered in Corsicana by water prospectors in 1894 and marked the start of a development boom in the region, with the city celebrated as the “birthplace” of the Texas oil industry. It’s surrounded by bird-filled wetlands and lakes teeming with fish, making it an ideal place to rent an RV and explore.
