Discover Damon RV rentals for memorable road trips

Mainly known for a geological curiosity, a large sulfur dome, Damon’s Mound was named after the first settler, Samuel Damon. Samuel arrived in the area in the early 1830s and built a home on the south side of the mound. A small settlement slowly grew, and the town was bolstered by the arrival of a railroad who laid down tracks through the town. Eventually, the usage of “mound” was dropped from the town name.

The Great Outdoor

Although there are hundreds of small lakes and ponds in the area, most of them are on private ranchland. Err on the side of caution and visit a state park in a Damon travel trailer rental. The Brazos Bend State Park is a modest 5,000-acre park with nearly 40 miles of multi-use trails. This park is pet-friendly; however, due to venomous snakes and a robust alligator population, dogs are required to be on a six-foot leash. Nature lovers, birders, and photographers will appreciate the abundant wildlife who thrive in this park. A short list of species who make their home in Brazos Bend includes feral pigs, river otters, bobcats, deer, and American Alligator. Note: all horses must have paperwork proving they have had negative Coggins results. Bring your Damon RV rental! Parking is plentiful.

RV Parks

Roughly 50 miles from Houston, and 40 to Freeport, Damon is a great spot to search for an RV rental. Don’t forget to figure out where to park overnight, too. There are a few options within 10 miles of Damon. Herrera’s RV Park in Needville, offers full hookups, roomy lots on manicured green lawns, and wide open space.

Exploring the City

A small town of about 500 people, it’s the sort of place where everyone knows everyone. The locals are welcoming of visitors. To get the latest gossip on where to find the best fishing spots in a Damon camper rental, stop at the West of Brazos, a local pub with a small pool hall. Even in a rural area, there’s plenty of places to see and adventure to be found. Open your horizons by gazing into the vast space, and marvel at the mysterious faraway galaxies and nebulas. The George Observatory in the nearby Brazoria Bend park is open to the public on Saturdays, weather permitting.
