Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.

Between Dallas and the Davy Crockett National Forest on State Highways 274 and 175, lies a small town with a rich history. Kemp, TX, was given its name when the first post office opened in the town in 1851 and named after the postmaster John Marr Watkins' wife, Malvina Kemp Watkins.
The land surrounding Kemp is incredibly flat, which led to the town being chosen as the terminus stop for a new railroad back in the late 1800s. It was this railway line that prompted many people to move to the town, and by the early 1900s, Kemp was thriving, with almost 100 businesses calling it home. As the years have gone on, the population has stayed stable, but nowadays it’s more residential than commercial, making for a very peaceful stopover on your vacation as most of the town's residents commute to nearby Kaufman or Athens.
