Killeen has lots of outdoor activities that you can enjoy right in town, and plenty to see just outside of the city, too. A few miles farther in the Killeen RV rental and you can be in some truly stunning landscapes, including the fabulous waters of the Gulf of Mexico. For a quick swim and a playground for the kids, visit Lions Club Park which also features a walking path and picnic areas.

Just east of the city, Temple Lake Park features beautiful bass-filled waters, a relaxing beach, and picnic areas. This popular spot is a great place for boating, swimming, fishing and picnicking.

Stillhouse Park is on the shore of Stillhouse Hollow Lake. Activities include swimming, fishing, picnicking, and boating. Clear, deep water is stocked with largemouth and smallmouth bass, and channel catfish. This park is a great place for the family to gather and relax, and there’s even a basketball court. Grassy open areas are interspersed with tall deciduous trees, offering plenty of shade on a hot day. Over 58 miles of shoreline make this a haven for boating, and rentals are available nearby.

Nearby Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) has something for every outdoor enthusiast, including fishing, boating, water skiing, camping and much more. If you long to go for a relaxing horseback ride, sail on the lake, or even venture into the depths during a scuba diving excursion, you’ll really enjoy BLORA. Make sure to visit the Miller Springs Nature Center and hike over to the Chalk Ridge Falls for a stunning view. There are several hiking trails that are enjoyed by folks of all ages and abilities.

Padre Island National Seashore is a paradise of over 70 miles of sea and bay shore, located about 300 miles south of Killeen. The 1st Cavalry Division Museum traces the beginning of this unit from horse soldier regiments in the late 1800s through the Gulf War, and beyond. The 3rd Armored Cavalry Museum includes an impressive outdoor display of heavy equipment including tanks and other artillery. There’s a children’s exhibit and a nice gift shop to pick up your Killeen souvenir.
