Rockaway RV Park in Burnet, just minutes from the park, is another excellent alternative. This is a family-owned RV park located on the shores of Inks Lake. Each campsite overlooks the lake, and guests have access to a boat ramp and dock. Modern restroom facilities, showers, and laundry facilities are available on-site.

Exploring the Area

While visiting Inks Lake State Park, you'll want to check out some of the interesting sites nearby. Stop by the Austin Steam Train Depot in Burnet and enjoy riding the rails for a short, scenic trip. Sit back, relax, and soak up stunning views of Texas Hill Country, all from a vintage train car dating back as far as the 1930s. The depot hosts a variety of family-friendly events, so be sure to check the calendar when booking your train ride.

RV camping at Inks Lake State Park allows you the freedom to visit many of the historic sites in Burnet, including the Highland Lakes Squadron Commemorative Air Force Airport. The Highland Lakes Squadron is a branch of the Commemorative Air Force and was founded in 1992. This is a working museum that preserves vintage WWII aircraft. The museum is open three days a week, allowing you to roam through the displays and step back in time.

Another must-see in Burnet is the Fort Croghan Museum. Fort Croghan was the third fort established by the United States government on the Texas frontier to protect settlers. Fort Croghan was established by Lt. C.H. Taylor on March 18, 1849, and was occupied until 1855. A museum was set up in the 1960s to commemorate this slice of Texas history. Visitors can wander through the museum and let their imaginations lead them on a journey through the daily lives of the soldiers who lived at the fort.
