Beat the Texas heat and take a dip in the clear waters of the Blanco River. Visitors are permitted to swim anywhere along the river. However, remember there are no lifeguards at Blanco State Park, and water safety should be a top priority to all swimmers. Small children are encouraged to play in the shallow wading pool located next to the mini waterfalls cascading off Falls Dam and avoid venturing into deeper waters.

RV camping at Blanco State Park is a great place to enjoy a quiet weekend getaway. All sites come with 30-amp electric and water hookups, while full hookups are available at the premium campsites. You'll need to reserve your site during the peak season from March to October. It's probably a good idea to reserve your site in advance no matter what time of year you plan to camp at Blanco State Park, though. Blanco State Park campground only has 29 sites for RV campers. Modern restroom facilities are located within walking distance of the campsites.

If you're unable to reserve a spot at the state park RV campground, check out Flat Creek Outpost RV Park, just minutes from downtown Blanco. This RV park is a stone's throw from Blanco State Park and offers full RV hookups, restrooms, and shower facilities.

The Blanco Riverside Getaway offers large, shady campsites with full RV hookups. Modern restroom facilities with showers are within walking distance of each campsite. This RV park is also just a few minutes from Blanco State Park.

Exploring the Area

Take a day and drive into Johnson City where the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park is located. Get a glimpse into the childhood, ancestry, and final resting place of America's 36th president at the LBJ Ranch. Most visitors will need several hours to explore the park.

While you're in Johnson City, stop in at the Hill Country Science Mill. This is an interactive learning atmosphere for people of all ages. The Hill Country Science Mill has expanded to include the STEM program, which starts students on a pathway toward a career in science, technology, engineering, and math.

While RV camping at Blanco State Park, you're only about an hour’s drive to San Antonio and the infamous Alamo, so pack up the RV and check it out. The Alamo Mission was originally known as the Mision San Antonio de Valero and was founded in the 18th century by Roman Catholic missionaries. The battle at the Alamo is forever etched in not just Texas history, but also United States history.

When you've wrapped up your RV camping trip at Blanco State Park, head into town to find a variety of gas stations and general stores. From here, you can head southwest to access I-10 and continue your road trip through the Lone Star State.
