Review: We got a very discriptive explanation of how the van worked, the van was not very clean and deposit did not includecoverage on sewer, water and propane usage. We enjoyed the ride and had a fun vacation in the van but it was hot in the back. Might need some battery operated fans because passengers were hot during the ride.

David’s answer

Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your trip!
However, calling the van dirty due to a little dust above the refrigerator is not really a fair assessment. And having Six people traveling for long periods of time will certainly create discomfort. Damage deposits are there in reserve should damage occurred… They are not there to fill propane and dump tanks.
Sorry for any misunderstandings and again, we are delighted you enjoyed your trip!

Incredible experience all around! Dave was extremely thorough with our walk through of the RV upon pickup (plan a bit of time for this very informative process!). He made us feel so comfortable with the vehicle and all of the amenities, and included a test drive, with detailed instruction on the driving particulars. The RV drove smoothly, was clean, in top condition, and offered everything we needed. The safety and functionality of Dave’s rig made our trip seamless, plus the bed is huge and soo comfy! We can’t wait for our next adventure! Thanks again!!

Although the van is showing it's age, it drives beautifully. David conducted an excellent orientation reviewing all the systems. We toured Death Valley for five days, driving over 900 miles, averaging 19 mpg. The van has lots of room for our gear and has a good layout. Very fun to drive.

My husband and I rented David‘s Freightliner for two weeks, camping at several different campsites along the California coast. Whether there were “hook ups” or not, the van supplied all of our needs, comfortable nights’ rest and plenty of refrigerator space for all of our favorites. It was a pleasure doing business with David… kind and fair.

We had a great time renting this RV. Although the outside paint confirms its age, the inside looks brand new. Having never driven an RV before I found it very easy to drive. You are sitting up high close to the front wheels with a great view of the road. I was very impressed with the size and performance of the fridge and freezer running on LP. I was very concerned about running out of LP as the tank is listed as only 5 lbs, but in reality the tank is much bigger - probably 25 lbs. I suspect the fresh water tank (currently listed as 50 gal) is much smaller. Perhaps 25 to 30 gal. We didn't use the generator, AC, or microwave. There is very limited storage space for the renters belongings, but we left the back setup as a bed (at David's suggestion) and used the space under for storage.

Renter Beware! This is a 2003 vehicle/17 years old. The owner will ask, at the last minute when you are picking up the vehicle, to sign an "addendum" to the Outdoorsy Terms & Conditions that states YOU will pay for any repairs that are not deemed "manufacturer defect". Normal wear and tear is not covered. In our case, we experienced a blown engine hose on the road which cost us $330, lots of stress, and one night sleeping next to the highway. I suggest you ask the owner to share this "addendum" with you BEFORE you rent so you have a proper amount of time to review/negotiate it.

David’s answer

Thank you for your feedback.
We are all terribly sorry for your experience. However, not telling the whole story is a bit of a shame when leaving such a review. Yes, the rig is an older rig...however, the engine and the hose that you blew are all less than a year old. This is a brand new Mercedes Benz motor with a hose lifespan of over 20,000 miles. Causing such damage at under 10,000 miles is clearly NOT 'normal wear and tear'. Therefore, per our agreement (that is standard in the industry), you are responsible.
Its a shame that such a wonderful trip as you experienced needs to become tainted with not taking ones own responsibility for their actions.
