Millsite State Park sits at the southern end of Millsite Reservoir on State Route 10 in Utah and is located right at the mouth of the Ferron Canyon. A great location for a motorhome camping trip, Millsite State Park is popular with adventure enthusiasts from around the state. Located on the western edge of the town of Ferron, the state park is a favorite with off-highway vehicle riders and mountain bikers, in particular, thanks to vast expanses of rugged terrain; a terrain that includes sandstone buttes that rise over 2000 feet, looming above the cool blue waters of the reservoir.

Getting Outdoors

The 435-acre Millsite Reservoir is a favorite with anglers. The serene waters of the reservoir are home to several fish species, including bluehead suckers, brown trout, cutthroat and rainbow trout, splake and tiger trout. Cast a fishing line into the lake’s calm waters from the shore or a boat. There is a public boat launching area that provides easy access to the reservoir. 

Water sports enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to at Millsite State Park. The reservoir permits all kinds of watercraft, including canoes, kayaks, pontoon boats, jet skis, water skis, and stand up paddleboards. 

RV camping at Millsite State Park gives you access to the park’s vast trail network. The popular Dry Wash Trail is a steep trail that climbs through Pinyon and Juniper forest and is five miles each way. 

The biggest attraction is ATV and dirt bike riding. With over 350 miles of designated off-road paths to explore in the Manti-La Sal National Forest, the area is very popular with dirt biking, ATVs, and mountain biking. 

If you’re looking for something less daring, enjoy a round of golf at Millsite Golf Course that also happens to be one of Utah’s most scenic golf courses. The 18-hole course offers a challenging golfing experience. 

Camping at Millsite State Park

The park has 20 campsites and offers amenities like big rig access, full hookups, 20, 30, and 50 amp electric, water, sewer, and limited cell phone coverage. Bring your furry friends along to this pet-friendly campground. 

The Huntington State Park has 22 campsites; amenities here include pull-thru sites, big rig access, tent camping, full hookups, 20, 30, and 50 amp electric service, water, sewer, dump station, central water spigot, and limited cell phone coverage. Campers will also have access to restrooms, shower stalls, and picnic shelters. Explore the recreational trails, or enjoy fishing, boating, and biking. Exploring the Area

The city of Price is about 46 miles from Millsite State Park in the neighboring Carbon County; it’s worth a lookup when driving through the area on your RV rental vacation. The city is located close to the scenic Nine Mile Canyon and the Manti-La Sal Mountains and was once a mining town. Not too far away is the town of Cleveland that you should check out as well, especially if dinosaur fossils fascinate you! 

Visit the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry; it’s a small museum at the entrance to the quarry, and has some interesting fossil finds on display. 

En-route from Price to Cleveland, you’ll pass by the Wedge Overlook, a short drive away. Referred to as the ‘Little Grand Canyon,’ take in breathtaking views of the multi-colored and tortured Redrock. You can hike along the rim to the end of the plateau. 

The Utah State University Eastern Prehistoric Museum in Price makes for an interesting visit. It’s home to a range of exhibits that trace the county’s history. Don’t miss the Hall of Archaeology and Paleontology, along with the Discovery Area, where kids will have a blast hunting for dinosaur bones. 

The Desert Wave Pool in Price is a welcome break to beat the summer heat. Dive into their wave pool to cool off. 

When it comes to food, Price has a couple of good options to choose from. Regular fare like fast food and chain restaurants are easy to come by, as are several local eateries if you’d like to try out some local Utah fare.
