First settled in the 19th century and incorporated in 1935, Syracuse is a rapidly growing city north of Salt Lake City in northern Utah. The original founders of the town named it for the famous Syracuse in New York, which was, at the time, known for its salt industry.
People today are moving to Utah more than ever before for a variety of reasons, and Syracuse is one of the fastest growing communities in the entire state. This pleasant little suburb sits on the northern fringes of Salt Lake City, benefitting from its proximity to the capital area. On top of that, the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Mountains, two of the biggest tourist attractions in Utah, are within minutes of Syracuse.
If you search for an RV in Syracuse, you will have the chance to road trip through one of the most naturally beautiful places on the planet, with all the convenience of the city to anchor you during your travels. World-class skiing, exceptional national parks, and memories you will cherish for the rest of your life are all part of the package when you rent an RV in northern Utah and take it for a spin.
Utah is well known for being an outdoors paradise, with every type of extreme sport and outdoor hobby you could possibly imagine. You don’t have to be some sort of rock climber or hang glider to enjoy the serene Utah wilderness. Simply hiking and camping out in your Syracuse camper rental will do the trick just fine. There are lots of nature sanctuaries along the shores of the Great Salt Lake, but Antelope Island State Park is certainly your best bet when it comes to seeing the lake and camping out along the water’s edge. You can cycle or hike up small hills in the open grasslands to see some panoramic views of the amazing Great Salt Lake. There are campgrounds where you can stay when you need to park your Syracuse RV rental overnight, as well as swimming areas in the salty lake. One of the most enjoyable experiences you can have at the park is to witness the massive herds of bison that freely roam wherever they please.
On the other side of Syracuse, to the east, are the towering Wasatch Mountains, an offshoot of the Rocky Mountains. The Wasatch Mountains are tremendous imposing peaks that reside in the Wasatch National Forest, where courageous visitors can opt to summit Mount Olympus or some of the other mountains in the range. There are five total wilderness areas in the Wasatch National Forest, and many more in the neighboring Cache National Forest and Uinta National Forest too. You can hike through the thick coniferous forests up in the mountains and retreat back to the comfort of your Syracuse motorhome rental when you opt to stay at one of the forest’s campgrounds.
Northern Utah is an enchanting place, but when you rent an RV anywhere in Utah, the best thing you could do is bring it for a road trip to get a feel for the entire state. Southern Utah is just as beautiful as the northern section, with a much different feel. There are lots of national parks in Utah that you can put on your list, like Zion National Park down near the city of St. George. Zion National Park attracts nearly five million visitors each year to witness its ethereal beauty firsthand. Zion Canyon itself is the centerpiece of this incredible park, with fifteen miles of staggering canyon walls, and a burnt red hue. Capitol Reef National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Arches National Park are all options too if you want to rent an RV and see all the natural wonders of Utah, but Zion National Park is truly a captivating place with spectacular scenery.

Syracuse has its fair share of shopping centers, restaurants, wineries, bars, cafes, and stores, but it does not have many attractions like other neighboring towns and cities. This is not a problem however as most of these places blend together to form the Greater Salt Lake City area, so there is technically a lot to do when you stay in Syracuse. Hill Aerospace Museum is in the adjacent town of Ogden, and a great place to visit for people of all ages. There are nearly 100 different airplanes and jets on display at this massive aviation museum as part of the United States Air Force Heritage Program.
SeaQuest Utah is a surreal experience, to say the least. Hands-on exhibits for young children cultivate a passion and understanding of animals and the natural world, making the world a better place day by day. There are lots of exotic animals and sea creatures in various different sections of the museum, with knowledgeable guides to share their information.
The George C. Eccles Dinosaur Park is a lovely place to bring the kids too, with six acres of land containing a variety of different dinosaur statues with life-like sound effects and quality. There is even a small museum on site to learn about these ancient animals and fossils that you can even touch in the hands-on exhibits.
Skiing and snowboarding are part of the fun too when you find yourself in Utah for the winter months. Snowbasin, Brighton Resort, Snowbird, Alta, and Park City are all amazing places to enjoy the abundant snow.
