Originally known as Klickitat Landing and named for the local Klickitat native people, Lyle, Washington is a tiny community on the northern banks of the Columbia River. The town was established back in 1859 after being purchased by James O. Lyle, the town's namesake. Before the Spokane, Portland, and Seattle Railway came to town in 1907, steamboats were the primary source for transporting people, mail, and goods to and from the semi-isolated town.

The Great Outdoors
People who rent an RV in Lyle usually do so to have easy access to the myriad of local nature parks and incredible scenery. Lyle is an outdoors paradise. Right down the road from Lyle is Doug’s Beach State Park, a mecca for kiteboarding and windsurfing. The park is named for Doug Campbell, a professional windsurfer who helped bring notoriety to the sport. The epic wind on the wide-open Columbia River makes for excellent windsurfing, coupled with incredible views of the water. Mayer State Park is directly across the river from Lyle and has similarly grand views of the water that can be seen from high atop the rocky bluffs that line the river gorge. There are a few boat ramps and lots of nature trails carving through the park, as well as miles of abandoned highway that was once a planned addition to Interstate 84. Fishing, swimming, and picnicking are also activities you can partake in when you bring your Lyle RV rental to the small Oregon park.
