In the heart of picturesque Washington, you can book an RV in Othello. This small town is a real outdoor paradise and a gateway to the endless bounties of beautiful nature that are abundant in this particular part of the state.

Othello began as a small homesteading community in 1884 when the Hutchinson brothers moved in and built their own cabin. For years, this tiny community hardly changed at all, but after the arrival of the Chicago, Milwaukee, & Saint Paul Railroad, the town was forever transformed. Hotels, restaurants, and shops were rapidly built to accommodate the ever-increasing influx of people into the town, and as time went on, more people began to realize just how spectacular the wilderness areas of Washington truly are.

These days, you can rent an RV in this pleasant city and enjoy your stay in an inviting atmosphere. Kennewick and Richland are about an hour's drive south, and Seattle takes about three hours of driving to reach when you set off for a major road trip.

The Great Outdoors

There are few places more ideal than the heart of Washington for exploring the great outdoors. When you pick up your Othello camper rental, the number of wildlife refuges, conservation areas, parks, and hiking trails will have your head spinning. Scooteney Park and Campground is a fantastic place to visit when in Othello, located right on the shores of Scooteney Reservoir. Splendid views of sunsets over the water make for a memorable camping experience, and when you bring your Othello RV rental to the shores of Scooteney Lake, you can also go boating, swimming, fishing, and even water-skiing.

Columbia National Wildlife Refuge is loaded with mesmerizing landscapes, formed hundreds of millions of years ago through geological events and volcanic eruptions. Rugged cliffs, sprawling grasslands, river gorges, lakes, and canyons are all hallmarks of this stunning nature sanctuary, where you can see hundreds of different species of wildlife. The arid, mild climate creates a near-perfect place for life to thrive, so guests may be lucky to spot lynxes, coyotes, badgers, bobcats, cougars, and elk when hiking through the park. Guests may also go hunting and fishing depending on the time of year.

To the west towards the Cascade Mountains, you can find Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park and the adjoining Wanapum Recreation Area, which together create a stunning combination. The state park interpretive center does an excellent job explaining what petrified forests are, and how the fossilized trees were covered in volcanic ash fifteen million years ago, and later buried by the infamous Missoula Floods. Guests can find petroglyphs left behind by ancient peoples in the park, or camp along the Columbia River when they rent an RV.

If you feel like venturing farther west, Mount Rainier National Park is one of the best of its kind in the entire country, pulling in over a million visitors per year. The 14,000-foot stratovolcano that shares its name with the park absolutely dominates the skyline, and you can see it from Seattle on a clear day. You can hike or mountain bike through glaciers, alpine meadows, or trek to the summit of Mount Rainier if you are up for it, but most people are happy to camp out and enjoy the tranquility of the woods.

RV Parks

It's easy to find a place to camp with the travel trailer rental from Othello; there are several options nearby. The Last Resort RV Park is in Othello and offers lush, grassy camping spots, internet access, TV, restrooms, and stunning views of the Potholes Reservoir.

Royal City Golf Course and RV Park is a great spot to consider for those who enjoy golfing. In addition to a stellar campground, there is a nine-hole golf course, a pro shop selling a variety of gear, and a restaurant and bar where you can refuel after a day on the green.

Sage Hills Golf Club & RV Resort also has its very own course, with 18 holes and over 40 grassy RV sites. There is a pond, a bar, a restaurant, a pro shop, and great deals on golf rounds for those staying at the park.

City Attractions

Othello is a tiny city, so you shouldn’t expect to see crowded city streets and an abundance of tourists taking photographs in front of monuments or landmarks. What Othello lacks in size, it surely makes up for in small-town charm. The Othello Farmers Market is a fantastic place to get a feel for the town while shopping for fresh veggies, locally sourced meats, artisan crafts, jewelry, clothing, and more.

The Othello Community Museum is a small but interesting place to learn about the town’s history. The museum is so small that you must make an appointment for a tour to see its many artifacts and treasures on display. The Othello Community Museum tells the story of the railroad industry and its role in making Othello an actual town, and it explains the importance of agriculture in Othello’s development.

The Othello Rodeo Association and the Adams County Fair could be attended when you rent an RV in Othello, as both are some of the finest events in the region. The county fair takes place each year at the end of July and the beginning of August, with lots of mouthwatering food, carnival rides, prizes, and live entertainment. There are several stages often featuring big-name music acts, and a few contests and races for attendees to take part in. The rodeo has been around since 1949, and is a beloved pastime for citizens of Othello, easily invoking the spirit of the Wild West.
