Finding a fantastic nature park in northern California is so easy that you could practically throw a rock and hit some sort of nature park, preserve, recreation area, or campground. This stunning, sparsely populated area is known the world over for its pristine pine forests, rugged coastlines, and towering mountains. King Range National Conservation Area protects a gigantic swath of land on the Pacific Ocean, complete with a mountain range and miles of undeveloped coastline. Rolling hills of emerald undulate and retreat into the Pacific Ocean, capped with massive douglas fir trees and majestic redwood giants. The King Range runs parallel to the coast, creating unusual microclimates with tons of unique wildlife. You can stroll through fields of wildflowers or up and down a deserted coastline devoid of civilization in one of the region’s most peaceful and lesser-known parks.
