The beautiful water and scenic surroundings make Lake Whitney one of the most beautiful places to go boating in Texas, and there are plenty of options available. You could fly across the water on a jet ski, relax and take in the views on a sailboat or find secluded coves and beaches in a kayak or canoe. The lake is huge, so there is enough room for everyone to enjoy all sorts of boating activities and has more than 20 private and public boat ramps and a number of marinas to make boating easy. The marinas also offer boat rentals if you don't have one of your own or your RV rental is not big enough. As such a big body of water, it is not surprising that fishing is also popular on the lake. Make sure you bring your rod and your tackle box as it has an abundance of largemouth white and striped bass. Other fish include crappie, sunfish, and catfish. As well as fishing from the marinas, fishing from a boat is another option, and many people also take advantage of the on-site fish cleaning station. Visitors are even able to hire a local guide who will supply all the gear and also show you where all the best fish are. Events take place in the park throughout the year, bit one of the most unique is the Star Party, which takes place after dark. Due to the lack of light pollution, it is the perfect place to see the night sky in all its glory. Take a look at the moon and stars through a powerful telescope and learn a little more about space. Many people just come with a picnic blanket and relax before heading back to the state park RV campgrounds.
