The land of the park itself has had a varied history, from Native tribe lands to farming to ranching. Today, visitors can enjoy this now protected land as it returns back to a natural landscape. Visitors to the park often enjoy paddling down the Econlockhatchee River which flows through the park for almost 20 miles. If you’d rather stay on dry land, you can spend your day hiking the eight-mile stretch of the Florida National Scenic Trail that cuts through the park.
