Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.

Milford Reservoir, also known as Milford Lake, is a lake in three different counties in northern Kansas. The lake was first created in 1954 by damming the Republican River. The river had been known to flood severely in the past; Native Americans from the region often spoke of a flood in the late 1700s that was particularly devastating. The dam to control that flooding and create Milford Reservoir is an earthen embankment with a non-gated spillway.
To create the lake, many of the surrounding areas were relocated to higher ground. Important trees and structures were relocated so that they would not be flooded. The area is now used largely for hunting and camping. Hunters who rent an RV near Milford Reservoir can drive to Kansas City or Wichita in about two hours and continue exploring the vast outdoors. Topeka is about an hour away, directly between Milford Lake and Kansas City.
Geary County, which contains large portions of the lake, has been inhabited for years. The history of the area could be interesting for travelers. Present-day Geary County was inhabited by Native Americans for hundreds of years. It was then claimed by France in the 1700s. During the French and Indian War, the area was ceded to Spain. It was returned to France and finally was purchased by the United States in the Louisiana Purchase. All of this history could be a draw for travelers camping with an RV in the area.
