Milford Reservoir, also known as Milford Lake, is a lake in three different counties in northern Kansas. The lake was first created in 1954 by damming the Republican River. The river had been known to flood severely in the past; Native Americans from the region often spoke of a flood in the late 1700s that was particularly devastating. The dam to control that flooding and create Milford Reservoir is an earthen embankment with a non-gated spillway.

Getting Outdoors
Most of the recreation at Milford Reservoir takes place on or around the water. The lake offers two marinas where travelers can keep their boats. The marinas both offer boat slips of different sizes to accommodate most boats. The marinas also contain boat launches for launching a boat into the water from a trailer.
Camping at Milford Reservoir
Milford Reservoir features five camping areas maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. Curtis Creek, West Rolling Hills, and Farnum Creek all offer full hookups. They have restroom facilities with showers as well. North Kansas campers can make reservations for a spot at one of these parks and head out for a neat day trip or relax by the fire.
Exploring the Area
The area around Milford Reservoir has a rich history dating from the earliest Native Americans through the Civil War and into today. Geary County Historical Society and Museums could be a good place to begin one’s introduction to Milford Reservoir history. The museum features exhibits chronicling Kansas history back to the early 1800s. That covers westward expansion, early railroads, the Civil War, steam engines, and much more. The museum also features traveling exhibits that are subject to change.

Bo was super great to work with on this trip! He was very flexible on times and was able to set the whole RV up for us to use without having to do anything ourselves. Then on Sunday when it was time to checkout of the site, he came when we were done to unhook and take it. He answered any questions we had in a timely manner and was very friendly!
