Bring your own rod or hire one from the park office to start fishing. Alternatively, during low tide, bring the whole family to the beach for an afternoon of clam fishing. Razor clams are abundant on these shores and can make for a rewarding meal in the evening. Just make sure to check state regulations for catch limits per person. The beauty of Twin Harbors State Park lies in its versatility as an all-year-round destination. In the winter months, many choose to rent an RV here to witness the migration of the majestic gray whales. Beginning in late October, these huge mammals begin their movements from the colder, northern waters of the Pacific and head for the warmer waters of California, where they will breed. Alternatively, visit from March to April to see the gray whales return to the north. Take a walk along the short Shifting Sands Trail for some of the best lookouts in the park.
