RV rental Black Hawk State Park, IA: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

Covering almost 1,000 acres, Black Hawk Lake is the southernmost glacial lake to be found anywhere in the United States. It’s a beautiful body of water, a hive of activity in the summer months, and is undoubtedly the main attraction in Black Hawk State Park. Three boat ramps are located in the park to help boaters launch their craft, and there are no motor restrictions when out on the lake. Anglers can fish for a wide variety of species, with crappie, channel catfish, walleye, bluegill, largemouth bass, and more all caught here. The park also has a fishing pier designed to be accessible to people with disabilities. You'll find a fish cleaning station near the Ice House Point boat ramp. The other most popular pastime for Black Hawk State Park campers is swimming. Wander down to the eastern end of the campground and you’ll find the park’s pretty little swimming beach. It’s a great spot if you want to get wet and escape the summer heat, but swimming here is unsupervised, so enter the water at your own risk. If you’d rather stay on dry land for a while, you might want to strap on your walking shoes and take a hike. The Stubb Severson Nature Trail leads walkers past 20 sites providing an informative look at the local plant life. Along the way, you might even be lucky enough to spot deer and a wide variety of bird species. If you’re looking for a longer adventure, you might like to head outside the park boundaries to check out the Sauk Rail Trail. At 33 miles long, the trail leads down to Swan Lake State Park and is open to hiking, biking, skating, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Finally, if you can time your visit to coincide with the annual Lake View Water Carnival, held over the third weekend of July, it's well worth doing so. With carnival rides and parades galore, it's an event that campers of all ages will enjoy.
