Lake Tholocco is popular for fishing, swimming, hunting, and boating. To hunt or fish at Lake Tholocco, anyone over the age of 16 needs a permit from the Fort Rucker Outdoor Recreation Center. Anglers who book an RV rental in Dale County can catch crappie, bream, largemouth bass, and catfish. The Alabama Wildlife and Fisheries Division handle stocking the lake, so it’s generally pretty well-stocked with game fish. In fact, it’s so well stocked that fishing competitions sometimes take place on the lake.
Camping at Lake Tholocco
Engineer Beach RV Park is located on the Fort Rucker Army Post; therefore, any Alabama campers staying there would need to have access to military installations. The park offers water and 50 amp electric. Pull-through sites and big rig sites are available. There is also a dump station for sewage.
Exploring the Area
Fort Rucker Army Post features the United States Army Aviation Museum. Many people camping with an RV at Lake Tholocco stop at this museum because it’s so close to the lake. The museum has a collection of over 100 hundred different types of military aircraft. The museum boasts one of the largest military helicopter collections in the United States as well. This attraction highlights flight technology from the earliest airplanes to modern aviation.
