Getting Outdoors

Plenty of water activities are allowed on Theodore Roosevelt Lake. Considering the lake is a nice 22.4 miles long with 128 miles worth of shoreline, swimming and boat launching are easily found. There are 16 designated beach areas and water access points to check out just within the three main ranger districts (Cave Creek, Mesa, and Pleasant Valley). So, if you’re not a fan of crowds, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find a less occupied spot.

Camping at Theodore Roosevelt Lake

There seems to be an overarching theme here at Theodore Roosevelt Lake; your options are seemingly endless. This same mindset applies to onsite campgrounds as well. Campsites are aplenty within Tonto National Forest. While not all are on or near the lake, you’re in very close proximity. Plus, staying deep within the Arizona forests is nothing short of a spectacular RV rental camping experience. All sites will have some form of a toilet and water available, but you might be on your own for an electricity source. Be sure to check each site for any specific rules or regulations before booking your Theodore Roosevelt Lake camping experience.

Exploring the Area

There are several small Arizona towns within a short drive from Roosevelt Lake, Globe and Payson being two of the closer choices. Globe holds strong Native American roots and has plenty of attractions that pay tribute to this era of their past and the influence still held. The Gila County History Museum is also located in Globe. If you want to learn some more about the area, this might just be one of your highlights during your camping trip at Theodore Roosevelt Lake. Payson, on the other hand, is surrounded by the Tonto National Forest. This active community always has things going on between events and rodeos. Family-friendly and ready to extend a hospitable hand, Payson will be in your backyard.

This trailer is perfect for a quick weekend getaway. I have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler that towed it just perfectly. Host is very responsive and it was all around a great experience. Some camping trips when you get home, you said to yourself, we won’t do that again for a while. But with this set up, I’m ready to do it again tomorrow. Thank you again.

Ben was communicative and helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for the trip. He even drove us to the airport. Outdoorsy was also very quick to respond when we needed assistance. We had a great experience and would 100% rent again. Grateful for all of the memories we made on this trip!

This was our first time renting an RV, and Glenn made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. He was incredibly helpful, personable, and responsive from start to finish. He took the time to show us how to hook everything up and explained where everything was, which gave us a lot of confidence. Glenn also went above and beyond by offering extra items that made our camping trip even more enjoyable. Anytime we had a question, he responded quickly and was very attentive to our needs.
