The lake covers almost 1000 acres and was completed in 1971 as an impoundment of Jones Creek. The lake is bordered on one side by the huge Ouachita National Forest, meaning much of the shore remains natural and undeveloped, with plenty of opportunity for outdoor recreation right in its doorstep.

Getting Outdoors

On the edge of Lake Hinkle is Little Pines Recreation Area, a well-known day use area complete with hiking trails, a swimming beach, and boat docks. Surrounding the shores are some beautiful open areas which are ideal for playing a range of sports, having a picnic or BBQ with the family, relaxing on the beach or simply sitting back and enjoying the picturesque surroundings when renting an RV in the area.

Camping at Lake Hinkle

There are camping facilities located in the Little Pines Recreation Area, which provides all the basic amenities that are needed for a comfortable motorhome camping stay. Sites have water and electricity hookups, and there is drinking water and flush toilets available. There is also a pavilion and dump station available for the use of guests.

Exploring the Area

Just beyond Lake Hinkle are a number of great attractions that are well worth exploring. Art lovers flock to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. The building itself is stunning, designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie it surrounds two spring-fed ponds. The series of pavilions house a number of galleries, a restaurant and museum store, and outside, a series of sculptures and walking trails link the park and museum to the town of Bentonville. The permanent collection spans five centuries of American artworks from the Colonial era to the present day.
