In the summertime, the lake is home to swimming, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, motorboating, wakeboarding, jet skiing, wave running, fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. There is an excellent interpretive center at Tuttletown that seeks to educate visitors about the natural history of the New Melones Lake area.

City Sightseeing

It might be misleading to say that Chinese Camp has attractions because the whole village is an attraction itself. This ghost town was once one of the most prosperous mining camps in all of California, with thousands of Chinese miners and prospectors calling it home. The town is a historical landmark worthy of a visit as it shows the true multicultural spirit of the Old West. The Veterans Memorial Hall & Military Museum is a treasure trove of history, with a vast array of artifacts, weapons, uniforms, and other cool items from the military. There are rare items on display, and exhibits with information on every major conflict the US military has ever fought in.

This is our first experience with Outdoorsy and it turned out just great. The camper was in great condition and our out-of-state relatives enjoyed it very much. It was nice for them to have their own space and they appreciated the cleanliness of the camper. The host, Tim Johnson was wonderful to work with. The camper was delivered timely and we had a great experience. I recommend this for anyone needing to rent a camper.
