Discover El Cajon RV rentals for memorable road trips

“The Big Box” is nestled in a quiet valley about 15 miles east of San Diego. It’s a very diverse area. About a third of the residents are Asian and African immigrants from Turkey, Somalia, and other nations. The number of things to do in El Cajon reflects that diversity. The best way to experience this diversity is not by staying in a hotel room. Some of the best RV rentals in the area are in El Cajon, and smart travelers know that a well-apportioned RV is every bit as nice as a standard hotel room. The Great Outdoors

Mt. Helix Park is a good place to start. It’s one of the highest points around El Cajon. Much of the park was a Depression-era work project, so it has a distinctive old-school feel. Take some time to learn about local wildlife at one of the visitor stations. If your timing is good, you can also catch a concert, play, or lecture at the huge rock amphitheater.

Exploring the City

Don’t miss the San Diego Air & Space Museum Gillespie Field Annex. This offshoot of the main museum houses airplanes and other artifacts that, for one reason or another, are not on display in San Diego. So, visitors have a much more intimate experience at this museum. It’s also ideal for children, with extras like airplane tricycles to ride.

I took the van to Palomar Mountain for the weekend. It was easy to drive and handled well. It had everything I needed for a weekend in the mountains -- a nice cozy bed, fridge, sink, stove. It came stocked with plenty of blankets. The van was clean and well setup. The host Gabrielle was friendly and helpful. He walked me through all the features of the van and how to set it up. He responded very quickly with any questions and was easy to coordinate drop off with. Overall it was a great weekend and a van for what I needed. Clean, well maintained and fully ready for the weekend.
