Virginia Museum of Transport
Roanoke in Virginia is the home of the Virginia Museum of Transport, and is a fine place to visit whether or not you are a rail enthusiast. When you come here you may get to see the Class J611, the museum?s finest steam locomotive, but do check ahead because this popular engine goes on tour for part of the year.
Alongside the Class J611, the museum is home to about 50 other trains, and you can learn about the importance of the railroad in Virginia?s history here, as well as admire these classic engines. The collection includes steam, diesel and electric locomotives, as well as freight cars, passenger cars, cabooses and other unique rolling stock.
At the Virginia Museum of Transport, you can see their collection of cars and trucks, both vintage and modern, as well as hand and horse-drawn vehicles. The museum is also home to the ?Wings Over Virginia Aviation Collection?.
New Horizons Mobile/RV Park
Would you like to have a vacation which combines the countryside with city life? If so, why not come to New Horizons Mobile/RV Park in Fresno, California? They are spectacular, with fruit trees and grapes growing underground. If you want to head out a bit further, Yosemite is only an hour's drive away.
Cal Expo RV Park
Cal Expo RV Park is located in downtown Sacramento, California, and is a good location for exploring the city, as well as a good base for a day trip into Elk Grove, which just over twelve miles away. The site includes facilities for larger vehicles, such as big rig access and pull-thru sites, and has water, sewer and electric. Pets are welcome here, and there is a dog park, making life a lot easier if you are traveling with your family pet. The site is family friendly and has around 200 units. The American River Bike Trail and Parkway are only a short distance away, so why not bring along some bikes and enjoy some excursions out on this trail, before heading out to explore further afield. When visiting here, it is also worth checking out in advance what is on at Cal Expo, as it can be great to be in town when an event is on.
Club Royal Oak RV
Club Royal Oak RV Resort is the most beautiful RV resort in Tulare County and the highest rated riverfront resort of its type in the western United States. Visalia/Sequoia National Park KOA
If you are travelling to California to visit the sierras, then Visalia/Sequoia National Park KOA makes for an attractive touring base. It is under 15 miles east of Hanford, convenient for the Highways 99 and 198, and has good RV amenities. These include water, electric and sewer, along with free Wi-Fi access, big rig access and pull-thru sites. During the summer months the swimming pool here is likely to be a key attraction, whilst dog owners can take advantage of the dog park and maybe have some fun putting their pet through its paces on the agility equipment provided.
The local area has some great attractions, and outdoor lovers will probably want to head off into one of the adjacent national parks and see the giant Sequoia trees or climb Mt Whitney. For a fun-filled day out, why not try the Adventure Park in Visalia, where you can drive a go-cart on the family track, visit the arcade, play mini golf or have a friendly game of lazer tag?
