Golden Pines RV Resort & Campground

Those who want to experience some quintessential Californian landscapes can head just down the road from the Golden Pines RV Resort and Campground to the Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Arnold. The name says it all: Big trees – you’ll feel dwarfed by the towering sequoias that make up the forest. You can enjoy the trails that wind through the sequoias, set up alongside a stream to enjoy an afternoon of fishing, or take a quick dip in the cold, refreshing waters of the river. Be sure to check out their website before your trip because the park often hosts events, such as Astronomy Nights, several times a month. Just north of the RV park and Stanislaus National Forest is the Eldorado National Forest in Placerville. Hikers who want to challenge themselves can take a day trip to the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Eldorado; it's the perfect place to stretch your legs. With the foothills starting at an elevation of 1,000 feet with mountains reaching up to 10,000 feet, you can climb the summits for stunning views of the valleys, canyons, and forests below. The park is also open for skiing and snowboarding opportunities during the winter. While camping at Golden Pines RV Resort and Campground, the Red Hills Recreational Management Area in Jamestown, California, is a great place to visit. The area offers ample hiking opportunities suited for all expertise levels. Wildflower lovers flock to Red Hills every spring to see the grassy landscape burst with color. As you wander through the Red Hills, if you’re lucky, you might see jackrabbits, mule deer, and even bald eagles. You can also get yourself a bike and speed over the bike trails as you travel up and down the hills of the natural area.
