Discover Hensley Lake RV rentals for memorable road trips

Hensley Lake is the product of a dam that was constructed in 1974 to help control floods and irrigation in the area. The dam is 184 feet tall, stretches over a mile long, and is the only major dam anywhere on the Fresno River. When you book an RV in Madera County, you’ll be able to visit the dam at your leisure, though a visit to the accompanying Hensley Lake might be more enjoyable and relaxing.

Getting Outdoors

You probably aren’t visiting Hensley Lake in a rental RV just to spend the whole time in the ranger station, although stopping by the station isn’t a terrible idea since it is packed full of information on the area. You are probably camping at Hensley Lake to enjoy the great outdoors, of which this destination has plenty. The lake itself is the main attraction, and guests can swim, boat, fish, and more in the clear, refreshing waters.

Camping at Hensley Lake

Hensley Lake is extremely convenient when you want to camp in an RV near Fresno while avoiding city crowds. The main campground at the lake is Hidden View, which has over 50 sites that can accommodate RVs. There are also two group camping sites, so when you are traveling with a large party, be sure to call ahead and reserve these after you sort your RV rental details out. The majority of campsites at this campground require you to back in with your RV, though a few are pull through.

Exploring the Area

One of the nearest decent sized towns to Hensley Lake, Madera, is located southwest and is only a short drive away. This is one of the easiest places to find fuel for your RV, as this town has a decent sized selection of gas stations of varying sizes. When camp food just isn’t cutting it, Madera is also a convenient place to eat out, and a selection of American, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, and home-style restaurants will keep everyone fed.
