Madrone Lake is small, at just 25-acres, but is stunningly beautiful. Located just north of Yuba City and Sacramento in Northern California, the lake is surrounded by redwoods and dogwoods and close to the Plumas National Forest. It’s a beautiful area to explore when camping with an RV.
The Madrone Lake area was the home of the Maidu People, but in the early 1900s gold was discovered nearby and the area developed quickly. Berry Creek Mine, just south of the lake, was one of the richest in the area.
In the 1920s, a dam was built to form Madrone Lake but was washed away in 1929. It was rebuilt in 1931 and is still standing today. A trading post was established, later becoming Madrone Lake Inn with a store and gas station, but by 1988 it had closed.
Today, Madrone Lake is a private community, but it’s possible to rent property here for vacations, and there are campgrounds nearby. Search for an RV in Butte County when you are looking to book a vacation and explore this beautiful area of northern California.

Our experience was great! The owners are pleasant and professional people to work with. We just had them drop off the trailer at our destination for a week. I felt like if I had any questions or concerns, I could get ahold of the owner no problem. The trailer was in great shape, perfect room for me and 3-5 kids. Overall, 5 stars hands down, will definitely be renting from them again!
Christian was very easy to work with and very helpful with making sure we knew how to load up and use all the features of the trailer. The trailer had everything we needed to enjoy our local trip up to Tahoe, and it was very easy to tow.
Great experience, Justin had everything you need to go camping. The trailer was clean, everything worked, & good clear communication. Could not ask for a better host.
