The small city of Waterford, California sits on the Tuolumne River, several miles east of Modesto. Like many of the towns in the area, Waterford was settled by 49ers looking for prosperity and wealth in the form of precious gold. Once known as Bakersville, the town opted to change its name to Waterford after much confusion arose with regards to the similarly named Bakersfield.

City Sightseeing

Waterford is a charming town by the river, with splendid views overlooking the water. The small downtown has its fair share of eateries and shopping, but you might find it lacking in attractions. Waterford Historical Museum, however, is a fantastic place to spend some time in between the wilderness treks, or during a rainy day. This fun museum puts an intense focus on the town’s history and packs a lot of information into a tiny building.

Tim was excellent. It was the first time that we had rented a camper. He provided all of the essentials and was extremely quick to respond to all of our questions.

This was an excellent RV experience! The RV was clean and everything in working order, matches the description and no surprises. Kevin is such a helpful host though, he goes way above and beyond what I expected. He gave me great advice about the campground we were staying at, he sent me GPS directions to the cheapest gas around, and he was extremely flexible for pick up and drop off times!
