The Great Outdoors
When you rent an RV in Salem, the Elora Gorge is on your doorstep and well worth a visit. The gorge is approximately 1.2 miles long and made from limestone cliffs that reach a height of 72 feet. The gorge formed during the last ice age as glacial meltwaters ran through the soft limestone, and the area is a popular tourist destination. Within the park are several miles of hiking routes, plus camping facilities and fishing. The more adventurous can take to the water and enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and tubing through the rapids. A little upstream of the gorge is Elora Gorge Falls, with a drop of around 25 feet.
RV Parks
Just north of the town of Kitchener is Green Acre RV Park, which is easily reached in your RV rental from Salem. The campground has 90 fully serviced RV sites, with up to 70 feet pull-thru sites available. For entertainment, there’s a heated swimming pool, two hot tubs, plus a playground and organized activities for the kids. Located next to Laurel Creek reservoir, there are plenty of water activities available also, including fishing and when you are tired of that, take a round of mini-golf or use the extensive games facilities, both indoor and outdoor.
Exploring the City
Understandably, being a small community, the facilities in Salem are limited, with just a gas station, a small shop and a couple of small cafes. Just a mile southeast is the larger town of Elora that offers a range of restaurants, shopping opportunities, and even a microbrewery.

All the 5 star reviews are warranted. Rented the van in the winter months and had some challenges due to extremely cold weather. Hans was there every step of the way. This was my first camper van experience and it was perfect. Loved that it was only 18’ - you can park it anywhere.
