Discover Guffey RV rentals for memorable road trips

The small mountain village of Guffey, CO, is located west of Colorado Springs in the Rocky Mountains. At an elevation of 8,500 feet, Guffey is sparsely populated and was once a thriving mining community before the industry left the region. This quirky town is known for its bizarre hijinks, like electing dogs and cats to the office of Mayor or celebrating the Fourth of July Fried Chicken Fly where fried chickens are launched from manmade devices to beat the record.

Explore the Outdoors

Planning a vacation in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado can be daunting when you rent an RV and try to cram your itinerary with excitement. It’s no secret that most people come to places like Guffey to rent an RV and enjoy the wealth of incredible parks, forests, and scenic places found all around the state. There are several extraordinary state parks close to town that you can bring your Guffey camper rental to get your trip started off right. Eleven Mile State Park is a well-known park in the mountains with a large lake acting as the main focal point. The reservoir has a thriving kokanee salmon population, making it one of the best places to go fishing in the state. There is a large marina on the water where guests can dock their boats and lots of open water to kayak, canoe, or go water skiing. The activities in the park aren’t just limited to the lake either; there are plenty of trails to hike around the lake, or mountain bike if you have the gear. Camp out by the lake in your Guffey RV rental for some spectacular views of the mountains hovering over the shimmering lake beside your campsite.

RV Parks to Visit

If finding a suitable place to camp with a travel trailer rental near Guffey should be simple. Like anywhere in Colorado, there is a slew of RV parks and campgrounds, reflecting the state’s affinity for camping in the great outdoors. Royal Gorge/Cañon City KOA is in a nice location for those who want to check out Cañon City and do some sightseeing in town. The park has its own pool open during the summer, as well as a snack bar, a mini golf course, and a tour shuttle for guests. Cripple Creek KOA is a bit farther away but enables you to discover a different mountain town known for its history and its casinos. Cripple Creek KOA is the highest altitude KOA campground in the country at over 10,000 feet in elevation.

City Sightseeing

It wouldn’t be quite accurate to describe Guffey as a lively town with a vibrant downtown; it is much more of a sleepy, laid-back village in the mountains that will serve as your home base when you rent an RV. If you are looking for shopping or fine dining, you will have to find it elsewhere. Cañon City is a short drive from Guffey and has much more of an exciting town atmosphere to speak of, with amazing museums like the Museum of Colorado Prisons. This museum has a whole host of artifacts and historically significant buildings to observe, showcasing the life of inmates in Colorado throughout the years.

Trigg was an excellent host. He let me show up early to check out the trailer prior to rental start date. He was available for questions while using his camper, and even returned an article of clothing we had left. Five stars.

We had an awesome time! Michelle responded quickly and we were able to work everything out for a last-minute trip. No complaints-- everything was in working order and the popup was well-equipped. Very happy with our rental and would do it again.

First of all our host, Robert , was amazing . He was pleasant and very informative about the RV operation. The test drive through Palmer Park was both helpful and made me feel comfortable about driving the RV. The RV was very clean - spotless.
I highly recommend this host and RV through Outdoorsy to anyone looking for a great camping experience. Also , would recommend Cheyenne Mountain State Park for a beautiful experience .
